How to leap into 2019 with intention!
Are you familiar with the concept of picking your “Word of the Year”? From what I can tell, it’s gaining in popularity – and for good reason. Personally, I stumbled upon this as a variation of a New Year’s resolution many years ago and have been keeping up with it for most years since.
So, here is what you do; it’s really simple – think about what you want more of (or less of) in the new year. What are your important focus areas and in what aspects are you determined to grow? Pick a meaningful word that represents your outcome or action and this will guide you in all the goals you set for yourself for the next year. The word will keep you focused as situations cross your path. You can use it for motivation and as your compass for life decisions, small or big.
How do I find my word?
Some words that I have picked in past years have been Happy, Gratitude, Balance and Breathe. For 2019, I haven’t quite decided what my word will be, but I am leaning strongly towards Grow, Bloom, Elevate, Flourish… in other words, something that signifies growth in some way. So, as I think you can see, one single word can become quite mighty, don’t you agree?
To help you along the way, I’ve put together a document with tons of words as ideas to get you started. You can print it and place it where you can easily read it (fridge, vision board, your desk, etc.) and see which word eventually jumps out at you. Once it does – that’s your Word of the Year for 2019.
New year, new you.
If you think it would be helpful to you, you can always keep your Word of the Year in sight, by wearing a beautifully hand stamped necklace or bracelet. That way, you’ll always be reminded of your power word when you need it.
Sooo, I hope this has inspired you! Do you know what your word for next year will be?
Let me know in the comments below. I’d love to know.
Shine on,
Nilla
My word for 2019 is “family”. This word most sums up where I want to place my energy this year. While I’ve always maintained strong healthy relationships with my family, I’ve spent many years pulling back and trying to create my own space. Having lost a few family members in the past couple of years and recognizing the brevity of our time here on earth, I find a new desire to embrace all moments with the people who know and love me the most, and I them!! This little word on my wrist reminds me to always put family first and be grateful for the time I’m given with my amazing family!
Lori! I absolutely love your word and the story and intention behind it. Family is the most important thing in the world. Embrace the people that love you and have your back – and love the snot out of ‘em!
My word of the year is “expansion”. Learning how to open heart space (and sometimes head space) to make room to grow, accept, embrace, and expand in ALL areas of my life is where my focus is for 2019.
This is a great one. Expansion is a great mantra and word. And you are so right… it is good with a reminder to pay attention to our thoughts – so that we don’t listen to the “shitty committee” that live in our heads and tells us all sorts of limiting beliefs. Let’s have an awesome 2019 full of expansion.
My word of the year is ’empower’; give (someone) the authority or power to do something.
It encompasses my own soul/spirit as well as helping others to find their own power. We are are so much more than we realize. We are truly limitless.
I love all my Nilla jewelry. My girls loved their personalized bracelets and I wear my earrings all the time.
You, my friend, are a true beacon in the lives of so many. To care for and to empower those around us, is the way to bring good change to the world. I truly believe that. Love your intention, Sue.
My word of the year is ‘strength’. People have a tendency to not realize the strength they have or are capable of. Not only inner strength but also physical strength. 2018 really challenged my strenth. I not only showed myself what I can accomplish but my daughters now understand this word completely and have searched their souls and are finding theirs….priceless! !
Wow! YASSS! Your daughters are so lucky to have you as their momma bear! You and your girls are leaving 2018 with a bang and going even stronger into 2019. Amazing.
I have still not settled on a word. I have thought of the word ‘Rise’. I love the power behind this. Although I am not sure I am in the right space for this. The other word that I am thinking on is ‘ME’!!! I love the idea of spending the year focusing on what I need. I give so much to others that I forget about me. I common response in my world is “I don’t know”. That is just me trying to make everyone else happy. A year of deciding what is good for ME!
Looooove “ME” as the word of the year! That’s brilliant in so many ways!!! I might need to steal this as a second word for myself for 2019… So good!
Expand is my word! I am expanding in every way! In my business (as a life coach,) my finances, in my love life, my physical flexibility and strength and my awareness of my oneness with the Divine and Source energy. I’ve just moved to Southern California and have definitely expanded how much sunshine is in my life!! 2019 is the year of “Expand” for me!
Thank you Nilla for the beautiful bracelet you made with my word! Ladies, I encourage you got have Nilla make you a piece of jewelry with your word. It’s so inspiring for me to look down and see my word over and over, each day!
